Reaves: week five

Happy Memorial Day!
Reaves was sporting his red, white, and blue in honor of our troops!

Can I just say Joe made a hole in one today at CCJC( Country Club of Johnston County) ! My dad said I know that just made his day, I said that just made his life!!!!! Joe loves playing golf and although he shoots well above par my man made a hole in one. My dad has played golf for 40 years and never had a hole in one. So proud of you honey!

Time is a tickin.....It's hard to believe that our baby boy is five weeks old today. I don't want to miss a thing...hence me taking a picture of him each and everyday. I remember asking my parents what was I like as a baby? Aww you were cute they say, but the harsh reality is it is hard for them to remember because so much has happened since I was born 29 years ago. So I leave the camera out on the table so I don't miss out on documenting Reaves' life. Pictures are worth a thousand words right?

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.  ~Stacia Tauscher

This picture is indicative of how many pics I 've taking of our son

ENOUGH ALREADY he is saying with his eyes!

oh and he gained 10 ounces! He is now a whole pound bigger weighing in at
8 lb 6oz!

One of my best friends Brittany had her son Noah just a few short weeks after Reaves was born. Brittany and I grew up being the best of friends playing dress up, riding 4-wheelers, talking about boys, going to the pool, sleeping over on school nights. I can only hope Reaves and Noah will be the best of friends like we were. So on Wednesday they had their first play date aka laid beside each other! ha ha Oh the fun to be had!

Reaves is one month old today! I bought these cute stickers on Etsy to show how much he will change over the course of his first year. I couldn't resist the Mohawk, he just looked so dang cute!

Reaves: week four

On Monday Reaves had a weight check appointment. He had gained 6 ounces! I was so stinkin excited, he now weighs 7 lbs and 12 ounces. I am hoping at his one month appointment he will hit the 8 lb marker!!!! I also think he gave me his first real smile. I know the books say it's a little too early so I'm not going to write in the baby book just yet :) Jamie and Eddie came to visit with James later that afternoon. He is so cute!!!!! I can't believe he is already nine months old. Jamie brought me lots of baby items and several in between outfits out of maternity but still can't fit into my old clothes just yet! Thanks Jamie!!!!!! That was so sweet of you! Later that evening I took Reaves on our first walk around the neighborhood! He LOVED it!

Oh yeah ready for my walk!

On Tuesday Joe's mom Marilyn came to visit on her way back home from Pennsylvania. She loved on Reaves and helped me with some household chores. It's just the best when you have family to help you around the house when your busy with a newborn! Thanks M!!! Aunt Carla came to visit too! She has to get her Reaves fix every few days! We tried tummy time again, he isn't loving it just yet! Later that evening we had Tacos! We love Taco Tuesdays! After dinner Joe went with us on a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood. I told him he was going to have to walk a little faster if I was ever going to lose any more weight! ha ha He said next time he would ride the bike beside us! I don't think speed walking is his thing! That night we watched Scotty on American Idol! I really did love both Scotty and Lauren, however Scotty got my vote! Even though I could only get through one time, at least I voted!

Wednesday I had lunch with the girls. Meaning my mom and sister. We had a nice lunch at Kobe. Later that afternoon Heather came by with her two boys Luke and Blake to meet baby Reaves. They brought the most delicious chocolate pie. It reminded me of the chocolate pie my grandmother used to make growing up! Then Miss Alison stopped by to meet Reaves and brought him an adorable lovie from Anna Kates! Later that night we watched Scotty WIN!!!!!!! I was so happy for him!

On Thursday we had a late Cinco De Mayo celebration at Amber's house. We were going to do it on the actual date, but I had Reaves a week early so we pushed it back a few weeks. She prepared a wonderful meal with the best guacamole!!!! Oh how I love guacamole!
We had a fun time!

Lee Lee and Amba

Friday I met LeeAnna and Amber at Andy's. I was in the mood for a good old-fashioned orange-ade. Later that afternoon MaryCatherine came to visit. Needless to say she was dressed and ready to go to Olivia's dance recital and baby boy peed all over her! I thought I had it figured out. Not sure how that happened, but I was so embarrassed. I mean it happens to me and Joe, but it's not suppose to happen to guest! We enjoyed her visit very much! We watched King's Speech that night. Joe fell asleep, but I thought it was a great movie!

he loves to keep one hand by his face!

Saturday Nick came to meet Reaves for the first time. We were excited to see him as we don't get to see him as much now that he lives at the beach. Later that evening mom came to babysit for us as we were going to Raleigh to celebrate Amber and Kevin's birthdays. It felt so weired leaving Reaves for a few hours, I thought I was going to cry when we pulled out the driveway. However I did enjoy a night out with the husband and friends! We started at the rooftop bar at Solace and then had dinner at Sushi O. The food was amazing. Then Joe and I headed home while the rest of the crowd hit the town! Fun Night!

Sunday Reaves and I hung with Mimi for the afternoon! Later that night we grilled out bbq chicken and corn on the cob for dinner! Dad came to eat with us! He always knows just when to come to get a home cooked meal! I finished the book Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo. It's about a little boy's astounding trip to Heaven and back. It's an easy read and a really amazing story.

Reaves: week three

On Monday Reaves had his two week well check. Everything was great except he hadn't gained an ounce. I was so disappointed because he eats like a mad man! After our appointment Claire came to visit and bring us lunch! She recently got engaged in New Orleans so I got to hear the whole story and see her gorgeous ring! She was so sweet to bring back Reaves a New Orleans bib and a plush alligator toy! I couldn't be happier for Claire and Will! Claire is one of my best friends and Will is one of Joe's best friends, and they actually introduced Joe and I seven years ago. Can't wait for the wedding festivities to begin!

Later that day the sweet Lydia from my class and her mom Gina came to visit and bring us dinner. Lydia grinned ear to ear the whole time!!!! She was so excited to hold Reaves she didn't want to leave. Gina outdid her self and brought us the most wonderful meal with a huge chocolate cake! I indulged for breakfast a few mornings! ha ha Gina also made Reaves the cutest onseie with a tie on it and some precious burp cloths! That was so sweet of you! Thanks again!

Ready for American Idol with my guitar onseie this week!

Reaves and I had a relaxing morning Tuesday. We had cuddle time and slept a little later to catch up lost sleep! He is my love bug! He loves to be nestled up right beside me and it helps him sleep a little longer. It was a lazy day and much needed! Later that night we went to meet my Dad,Carla, Langley, Leyton, and Lawson for dinner. After dinner they came to our house for a few minutes to love on peanut. I didn't know babies sucked their thumbs at such a young age later that night Reaves was sucking on his thumb. It was absolutely precious!

Mommy's love bug and Daddy's Bubba!

On Wednesday I dressed up little man in a monkey outfit from my good friend Amy. He looked so adorable!Later that night mom came over to watch  Scotty rock it out on American Idol. Isn't Scotty just the cutest?

Thanks Amy for my little monkey outfit!

Go Scotty!!!!

I had my first checkup on Thursday since my c-section.The doc says everything looks good and that I can start taking baths again!!! wu hu music to my ears! Later that night I went to my sisters for dinner. Mom made the most delicious meal! Then we watched Scotty make it to the final two!!!! I snapped a few pictures of Reaves and Lawson as they are almost exactly 2 years apart. Law Law looks like a giant next to Reaves! It was so cute! Happy Birthday Lawson 5/20/09!

On Friday I took Reaves to school to meet my 19 precious first graders who I miss dearly! They were so excited! We had a little Popsicle party and I "showed" him off to everybody! That night Joe and I had a little date night with Reaves in tow to have sushi. Oh how I've missed raw sushi with a glass of white wine! Reaves was not feeling it, he was a little fussy so we had a speedy dinner date, but it was still nice! Oh and Reaves slept for 5 hours straight! Oh how sweet it was!

He loves his Summer swaddle wrap!

Saturday our good friends Courtney and Dave came from Maryland to meet baby Reaves. We enjoyed some bbq from Smithfield's for lunch and catching up! Thanks Court for the book I've already been reading to learn all about how to be the best mommy to our sweet baby boy! Later that afternoon Carrie Dale and Jim stopped by! Carrie and I went to the hospital to meet Mr. Noah Quinn who was born on Saturday! Congrats Brittany and Andrew! I'm so excited that we have boys so close in age to be friends like we are!
Then we grilled out that night some burgers and enjoyed being outside! He did it again a 5 hour stretch! Could this be his new routine?!?!?!?

Sunday we headed to the golf course so Joe could play 9 holes. I drove the golf cart and watched while Reaves slept the entire time. We had quality family time for a few hours! I wonder if Reaves will like playing golf as much as his daddy! Then we went to Matthews to grill out for the night. He grilled fresh Wahoo that he had caught the day before! It was delicious! Ashley got to meet Reaves for the first time and the weather was so nice! No five hour stretch tonight! I guess I will take what I can get!

Reaces rocking the collar shirt!

Our baby boy has changed my life more than I could ever imagined! I find myself gazing into his wide eyes as he now knows my voice and lights up when I talk to him...... I marvel at his tiny fingers and toes and count them over and over....... I give him Eskimo kisses like there is no tomorrow because his daddy says he likes it.................I find myself tapping him when I can't hear him breathe just to make sure he is o.k. call me neurotic but I call it pure love! I feel richer with his every smile......he is my sunshine as he has brightened my life.....I sing to him everyday just like my grandmother sang to me......"you are my sunshine my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are gray you'll never know dear how much I love you please don't take my sunshine away!" My mom has always call me her sunshine! My dad has always said I was the light of his life! So now I realize how deep there love is for me as I love our son just that much and it grows stronger everyday!

I love you Reaves Makinson Cataliotti to the moon and back!
